Card. Padicini to Gives a decision on the Franciscans dispute in blaterford where the bishop, Dr. Abraham, has refused 'aculties te Fr. Hourigan, the Guardian of the Carrick Conwent: the bishop sheuld pow grant Fr. Hourigan the required faculties. Asks L. for his opinion on the best way of bringing the dispute to a conclusion. thanks pr. L. for his letter, written from Water- ford on 12 Nov. Nothing should prevent Dr. Foran from being apgointed. Mentions the importance of the Irish prelates recommendation of candidates in such elections. Refers to Bishop Dubois of New york being in Rome, and his intention of visiting Ireland in the spring to recruit for his mission.

This regards the retrenchment of certain holydays of obligation, such as the Mondays after Easter and Fentecost, the Feast of St. John the Baptist etc. Also concessions regarding the abstinence during Rogation days, and the Fast on wednesdays in Advent.
