Clement Neubauer OFM Cap., Minister General, re the Irish Capuchin missions in Africa, elections of Regular Superiors and Discreets, appointments, and arrangements for visitations. Copies of letters of An tAthair Peadar Ó Laoghaire to Fr. Albert Bibby OFM Cap. and ‘Sister Joseph’. The copies are on ‘The Capuchin Annual / Church Street / Dublin’ headed paper and were probably compiled by Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. The letter to Fr. Albert (17 Sept. 1906) reads ‘The word “léighean” comprises every sort of literary speech as distinguished from oral speech, i.e., books of all sorts, whether written or printed’.
Copy letter from Roger Casement, Pentonville Prison, to Fr. E.F. Murnane dated 16 July 1916. With a copy extract from a letter from Fr. Murnane, Presbytery, Dockhead, [Bermondsey, London, S.E.], to George Gavan Duffy (Aug. 1917). The extract reads ‘He [Casement] faced death like a gallant Irish gentleman with the added courage and confidence of a good catholic. He talked freely of his death and was looking forward to his confession …’. The copy file concludes with a copy extract from a letter from Fr. James Carey, prison chaplain, giving a brief account of Casement’s piety before his execution.
Copy Letters Patent to the Most Rev. Michael Boyle, Archbishop of Dublin, of amongst other lands a plot of inhabited ground ‘containing in breadth in the front 21 yards and in length backward 54 yards … the former property of Nicholas, Lord Viscount Netterville of Douth and his son Luke Netherville Esq., whereon was built stables and coachhouses and one stack of chimneys and all enclosed with stone walls lying and being in Oxmanstown, Dublin … to be held of the Castle of Dublin in free and common soccage … at the yearly rent of 6s 6d. The copy appears to have been made c.14 May 1868 for perusal by purchasers. The copy was compiled by Terence O’Reilly, solicitors, 18 Bachelor’s Walk, Dublin. There are several endorsements extant on the title page including a note indicating that this copy along with a case opinion and letter were sent to Mr. Reeves and Mr. O’Connell.
Photostats of letters from Henry and Richard Doyle to their father on the occasion of Fr. Mathew’s visit to London in 1843. The letters date to August 1843 and have illustrations showing scenes from Fr. Mathew’s visit. The volume was presented to Fr. Aloysius Travers OFM Cap. (1870-1957) to mark the centenary of Fr. Mathew’s death on 6 December 1856.

The list includes references to ‘plans of Father Mathew Memorial Church’, definitory letters, records of visitations, ordinations, retreats and missions, and correspondence with the Provincial Minister.
Copy map showing outline of the medieval St. Lawrence’s Chapel near the South Channel of the River Lee. The chapel is bounded by Webber’s Lane (now Morgan’s Lane) and by the ‘ascertained line of the Old City Wall’. The site was seemingly covered by the recently-demolished former Beamish & Crawford Brewery, Main Street South, Cork. The map was probably copied from a nineteenth-century lease map and has the following key to the coloured areas: ‘Land coloured red leased by Carleton & Mitchell to Francis Cottrell, 1st June 1796. Green and brown leased by Carleton & Mitchell to Francis Cottrell, 1st June 1796. Land coloured green held by Carleton under lease from Corporation dated May 6th 1706. Land coloured brown held by Carleton under lease from Prebendary of Christ Church. Land coloured blue held by Beamish & Crawford, surviving partners of “Beamish, Crawford & Barrett” as shewn on lease [of] Carleton & Mitchell to Cottrell dated 1st June 1796’. Copy lease of William Tankerville Chamberlain (1751-1802) , Justice of the Peace, Court of King’s Bench, Dublin, to William Hamilton and Mountjoy Hamilton, Stafford Street, Dublin, of a dwelling house on Church Street ‘near the old bridge’ for 900 years at the yearly rent of £10. The original lease is dated 4 March 1796. The copy was made at the Registry of Deeds for Thomas Falls, solicitor. The file includes a copy memorial of the said lease.
Copy minutes of the meetings of the Father Mathew Sodality, Queen Street (later Father Mathew Street), Cork. The minutes mainly refer to routine administration and membership matters pertaining to the sodality and Father Mathew Hall. The minutes are signed by the Presidents of the Hall including Fr. Matthew O’Connor OSFC and Fr. Joseph Fenlon OSFC. The location of the original minute book is unknown.
