A record of travelling expenses incurred by Irish Capuchin missionaries in Africa. The list was compiled by Fr. Giles Fitzgerald OFM Cap., Provincial Bursar, Church Street, Dublin.

Publication by Fr. James O’Mahony OFM Cap. on the Irish Capuchin mission in Barotseland, Northern Rhodesia. Published by 'The Father Mathew Record' Office, Dublin. The book summarizes Fr. O’Mahony’s experiences during a visitation to the Cape Province (South Africa) and to Northern Rhodesia in 1935. The chapter headings are: A new venture; the missionary idea; mysterious Africa; gateway of the Cape; from the Cape to Livingstone; the Barotse people; exploring; to Mongu; the religious of the Barotse.

A documentary history by Fr. Marcellus Carroll OFM Cap. referring to the arrival of the Irish Capuchins in South Africa and to their early work in Cape Town. The preface notes that the booklet was not intended for publication. His primary sources were the ‘writings of the late Fr. Kevin Lenaghan SJ, the now defunct "Catholic Magazine", and the "Southern Cross", and the archives in the Chancery in Cape Town, and those of Parow and Athlone parishes’. The documents relate primarily the period from 1929-40, but reference is also made to developments up to the late 1970s.

Proposal for the construction of St. Bonaventure’s Formation Centre, Lusaka, Zambia. The proposal includes details re expenditure for the construction and copy construction plans. With a letter from Fr. Angelus O’Neill OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, to Br. Declan O’Callaghan OFM Cap. offering his support for an application to the General Curia for funding for the project (13 Sept. 1990).

Reports, memoranda, and questionnaires collected and compiled by Monsignor Killian Flynn OFM Cap., secretary of the Association of the Members of the Episcopal Conference in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) principally about priestly formation in the constituent countries of Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia. The file includes the following documentation:

A small album containing photographic negative sheets compiled by Fr. Alfred O’Mahony OFM Cap. (1912-1988) mostly relating to the work of Irish Capuchin missionaries in Africa. An annotation on the inside cover reads: ‘Fr. Alfred O’Mahony / Sancta Maria / Mongu / Northern Rhodesia’. The album has a manuscript index to the contents. The album includes images of baptisms, school groups, religious sisters in Lukulu, Sichili, Livingstone and Sawmils in Northern Rhodesia, and in Langa, Athlone and Parow in Cape Town, South Africa. Images of Victoria Falls (1942) and the Zambezi River are also extant in the file. There are also prints of groups of friars in Rochestown College, County Cork (1931-2), and in Knock, County Mayo (1940).

Photographic album (titled ‘The Cambrian Album’) containing black and white prints of the early Irish Capuchin missionaries in Northern Rhodesia. Some of the prints were later annotated by Fr. Edwin Flynn OFM Cap. The album includes:

The collection includes some views of local worshipers and parishioners (in Northern Rhodesia and in South Africa). Includes prints of Fr. Christopher Crowley OFM Cap., Fr. Luke Sheehan OFM Cap., Fr. Timothy Phelim O’Shea OFM Cap., Fr. Killian Flynn OFM Cap., Fr. Edwin Fitzgibbon OFM Cap. (Provincial Minister from 1931-7) with Fr. Paschal Larkin OFM Cap., Fr.
