Minutes of a meeting of Irish Capuchin Missionary friars appointed to conduct the temperance crusade. The minutes refer to the correct ceremonials, forms of sermons and procedures in relation to the taking of the total abstinence pledge, and the formation of total abstinence sodalities at missions conducted by the friars.

Minutes of the Conference of Ordinaries of Northern Rhodesia

Report on the Conference of Ordinaries of Northern Rhodesia held in Lusaka in April 1945. The attendees included Monsignor Killian Flynn OFM Cap., Prefect Apostolic of Victoria Falls, and Fr. Timothy Phelim O’Shea OFM Cap. For the most part, the conference dealt with issues related to the provision of Catholic education in the country.

Minutes of the First General Mission Conference

Minutes of the first General Mission Conference held at the Sichili Mission Station, Northern Rhodesia. The meeting was convened by Monsignor Killian Flynn OFM Cap., Prefect Apostolic. The minutes include decrees in relation to the Horarium, rules and observance, the catechumenate, catechists, preaching, and mass attendance. Reference is also made to building plans, steps to improve proficiency in languages, transport considerations and the running of local schools.

Miscellaneous Notes by William Woodlock

A file containing miscellaneous notes (mainly on legal, historical, and literary topics) compiled by William Woodlock. Some of the manuscript notes are extant on the reverse of previous correspondence or on printed material including a flier from Samuel Haughton, Secretary of the Royal Zoological Society, Phoenix Park, Dublin (February 1874), and a testimonial in favour of Philip Callan MP (1837-1902) dated 22 January 1884. Other re-used papers refer to ‘St. Vincent’s Lunatic Asylum’ (24 July 1877) and ‘M.E. Matthews, Court Dress Maker, Milliner & Florist, 49 Upper Sackville Street, Dublin’. (October 1874).

Mise Éire

Photographic prints (stills) taken from 'Mise Éire' (1959), a documentary film on the Irish Revolution (1912-1923), directed by George Morrison. The prints were compiled by Fr. Henry Anglin OFM Cap. with a view to publication in 'The Capuchin Annual'. Most of the prints are annotated on the reverse. The file includes the following images:

Photographic albums of Fr. Owen O’Sullivan OFM Cap. The albums cover the years from 1971-1998 and include some personal, family and holiday (Ireland, Poland, Italy, and Bulgaria) photographs and prints relating to Fr. Information is given in respect of the date, location, and duration of the mission, and the names of the Capuchin missionaries involved. Occasional reference is made to the type of mission and retreat given such as ‘temperance renewal’ or ‘triduum’. The cash received and the expenses incurred are also noted. Entries refer to the transfer of cash to a ledger.
