The Provincial has directed his missionaries to remain pending further instructions. The Secretary General summarises the reasons for the decision to recall the Fathers, It briefly boiled down to the fact that the Passionist have not obtained permission for a canonical foundation. The proposed acceptance of the Bechuanaland ( Botswana ) Protectorate as an independent mission make it imprudent for the Province to accept extensive parish obligations outside the boundries of the Protectorate. A Passionist centre in the Union of South Africa is of the utmost importance to the Bechuanaland Mission. A list of conditions from the Provincial relevant to the continuance of the Fathers in the Diocese is appended, THIS ITEM IS INCLUDED AT A4 OF THE DOCUMENT "OFFICIAL CORRESPONDENCE RE SETTING UP OF HOUSE IN TRANSVAAL" LOCATED AT 8-1-4-1 SERIAL NO 6821)
