He also mentions that Cardinal D’Alton is sending a telegram to the Holy Father, in the name of the Irish Hierarchy, in relation to Rinuccini.

His family are not well off and the father has been ill and therefore the young man may not be able to continue with his studies. Correspondence from his Parish Priest, Fr. Gaynor of Ringsend, states that all the fees are paid and cannot see any reason why he should have to give up his studies.

There are huge issues with the pagan University College for the West Indies, State control of social services, secret societies and English Protestant indifference. He mentions the last Eucharistic Congress in Rio, earthquakes and the burning of the second town in St. Lucia. He mentions his student in Clonliffe who is settling in and the fact that +McQuaid is ordaining Alfred O’Rahilly the following day.
