Remarks that it is evident from letter that Boyle does not wish to admit any more religious to the City of Johannesburg. Two aproaches to the matter are adverted to by him. Overseas Missions (Provincial Archives): Prefecture Apsotolic Bechyanaland (Botswana): letter from Missionary Secretary General, CAspar Caulfield, C.P. to Ptovincial, Fergus Loughry, C.P., seking, by authority of the General, the customary three names of the candidates whom the Provincial Curia judge worthy of the office of Prefect of Bechuanaland. Details of proceedure given. General also asked each misionary in Bechuanaland to send him directly a new Terma. Preperation of trhe official Terma is the proprer duty of the General.

Overseas Missions: Johannesburg: photocopy of letter from Caspar Caulfield, C.P., the Missions Secretary General to Fergus Loughrey, C.P., Propoganda Fidei has instructed that the terna for the election of the Prefect Apostolic for Bechuanaland ( Botswana ) be taken up. Voting will not take place until written consent of the local Ordinary is obtained for the erection of a Passionist house in one of the most favourably situated cities of South Africa. There is deadlock in these negotiations at the moment, so Caspar writes to examine the whole question from all sides to enable Fergus and Consultors can determine what course of action to take. The whole problem is then discussed in detail and certain suggestions made. Overseas Missions: Johannesburg: photocopy letter from Caspar Caulfield, C.P., the Missions Secretary General acknowledging letter of 14-11-1958 from Fergus Loughrey, C.P., conveying the decision of the Capitular Fathers (concerning the question of a religious house in South Africa ?): copy of which is not extant here. Caspar, at Fergus's request, advises on how to proceed in dealing with the Bishop. Our version of the proposed contract should be sent to the Bishop before he gets out his own version, and this version should be sent by Caspar to the Bishop.
