Typed letter to +McQuaid from J.P. Walshe, Ambasciata D’Irlanda, Roma. The St Columban project is near fulfillment. Mgr. Montini cannot leave Italy on account of the situation with the Communists, and must be near the Holy Father. There are rumours that the Communist leaders might be imprisoned at an early date, and ‘it ought to happen,’ and if so there will be trouble for a time. Suggests that the Archbishop contacts Mgr. Kaas and Count Galeazzi, both of whom are very close to the Holy Father.
