St. Joseph's Retreat, Cloonamahon: Collooney: The Sligo Champion: article by Owen Tweedy on the history of "Coney Island" in Sligo Bay which gave its name to Coney Island, New York. The island in Sligo Bay was part of the dowry of Olivia Doran who married Tom Meridith of Cloonamhon in 1788. It was taken over by the Land Commision in early 1900s.
