Description of previous residence and states that he had heard reference to an old monastery and church having existed on the site but never discovered any ruins.

The island in Sligo Bay was part of the dowry of Olivia Doran who married Tom Meridith of Cloonamhon in 1788. It was taken over by the Land Commision in early 1900s.
