DOMINIC BARBERI - LIFE: short letter bearing the famous Maltese Cross cancellation, posted in Athlone, 14/02/1843, year before Dominic came to England, and so contemporaneous with him. Declan O'Sullivan has a note saying , "Probably same year as Anthony Trollope was Supervisor in Athlone P.O.". (Note by A.O'Loughlin: Declan intended to look up this question in Trollope's life. Unfortunately, he never got around to it. I have remedied the omission by reading Victoria Glendinning's fine biography, which covers Trollope's Irish period thoroughly. She gives in detail his various places of work and residence. He was for a time supervisor of the midlands and western districts. His places of residence and work while there are detailed by Glendinning, but no mention is made of Athlone.
