The letter reads ‘The insults offered to Catholic priests who were grossly outraged in Protestant Church Yards, the large fees demanded from the very poorest for the internment of their Relatives, induced me to open my present large and beautiful burial grounds. … The Cemetery was blessed by the late Archbishop, the Most Rev. Dr. Laffan, assisted by the late Vicar General, Archdeacon Keeffe at the period of the Month’s Mind of the late admirable Bishop Coppinger …’. The letter is dated 22 May 1847. A covering note on the copies by Fr. Nessan Shaw OFM Cap. states that two of the letters were written by Fr. Mathew whilst he was in New Orleans, Louisiana, and that the originals are held in the Archives of the South Presentation Convent in Cork. The letters date from 24 July 1846-18 Mar. 1851. Treasurer’s account book for the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis attached to the Capuchin Friary, Church Street, Dublin. The volume contains a monthly record of subscriptions received from members and monies derived from the sale of Mass Cards, from the shop and library. The expenses relate principally to building works and masses said for members. The entries are signed by Fr. Dermot Lynch OFM Cap., spiritual director of the SFO.

A short biographical brochure on Fr. Albert Bibby OFM Cap. and Fr. Dominic O'Connor OFM Cap. published on the occasion of the repatriation and reburial of the two priests in Ireland in 1958.

The file also includes a photographic print of a portrait of an unknown individual by Seán O’Sullivan RHA (1906-1964). The portrait is dated December 1936.

The file includes a Bill of Quantities (and costs) for ‘sundry works in connection with proposed alterations to mechanical, electrical and sanitary plumbing services’ at Ard Mhuire. The correspondents include Fr. Simeon Breen OFM Cap., guardian, J.R. Boyd Barrett, 5 Camden Place, Cork, architect, Fr. Anthony Boran OFM Cap., Provincial Minister. Some of the letters refer to the deferment of plans for the painting of the Friary church and choir.

File relating to an application seeking a remission on the valuation (and rates) paid on Ard Mhuire Friary. It is noted that the Friary ‘is used exclusively as a theological training centre for the Capuchin Franciscan Order, which is a charitable religious organization, in which students are prepared for the missionary and apostolic work of the Order, both at home and abroad’.
