Notes on the interview between the Nigerian Ambassador and the Nigerian Charge D’Affaires with +McQuaid. Fr. MacMahon present. The Ambassador would like the priests who are aiding the Other Side to work for peace between both sides. +McQuaid pointed out that he never met these priests and suggested that the Ambassador meet them to discuss the steps which could be taken to bring peace.
Typed note to +McQuaid. Dr. J.G. Sheehy’s conclusions on the Street and House to House Collection Bill are serious and would seem to warrant the matter be taken up at Governmental level.
Letter from D. Scanlan to +McQuaid regarding his appointment as to Dundee (Dunkeld Diocese). The current incumbent, Bishop John Toner, is eighty nine years old and is in very good health. He would be delighted if +McQuaid could attend his consecration.

Letter from Mgr. Cassidy to +McQuaid forwarding a reply from the Secretariat of State in relation to releasing Fr. Cyril White for service in the English language section of that Office. Taking into account his age and his ability, they request +McQuaid to allow him enrol in the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy with a view to him being appointed, eventually, to the diplomatic service. The matter has now been referred to Archbishop Paro, President of the Academy. His Holiness hopes the Archbishop will consent to this suggestion.
