Draft copy address signed by Arthur McMahon, Luke McRedmond and John Coyle (on behalf of the citizens of Kilkenny) to Fr. Joseph Harkins OSFC (d. 1 Dec. 1888) on the occasion of his departure to the missions in India. The address reads: ‘We, your fellow citizens and friends have heard with regret that you are about to take your departure from amongst us, that you are about to leave your native city and your native land … to walk in the footsteps of two of the greatest saints of His Holy Church: that you have been chosen to care in far distant India, the seed of which was planted in the blood of St. Thomas and nourished by the martyrdom of St. Francis Xavier’.

Draft agreement of John Maher with Jane Revell regarding his tenancy of houses, yards and plots of ground on the south side of North Brunswick Street for the term of 999 years at the yearly rent of £30. Maher refers to the ‘dilapidated state’ of the premises which are ‘likely to be condemned by the Corporation authorities … and also ‘the falling off of the value of property in this neighbourhood caused by the removal of Smithfield Market’. A draft text by Fr. Richard Henebry on a vellum manuscript held in the Royal Irish Academy. The text appears to be an astronomical and medical text (catalogued as MS B ii 1) dating to the fourteenth or fifteenth century. Henebry refers to the frontispiece of this text which contains an ‘astronomical rotula with a moveable index, containing [the] names of the Signs of the Zodiac and the planets in Latin; also the names of the months and the numeral figures’.

Manuscript draft by Fr. Richard Henebry referring to the subjects of Irish music and literature. The headings include ‘Of the Keltic note’ and ‘Of Irish literature’. It reads ‘One should think that the first requisite for a neo-Keltist would be a thorough knowledge of the language and literature about to be manipulated. But strange to say it is never so. There is no one of the school that enjoys the faculty of being able to read a book in any Keltic dialect whatsoever. They depend entirely on translation …’. A two-page musical score is included. Rough pen and ink illustrations (including some of a piper and a fiddle player) by Henebry are extant on the covers.

Draft articles for submission for 'The Capuchin Annual'. The author of the texts is not given but it is possible they are by D.L. Kelleher (1883-1958). The titles include ‘Walking into Wigan Town in 1920’, ‘Traveller’s Joy / The Return of the Native’, ‘Paris / July 5th 1926’, ‘Saint Peter’s and Saint Paul’s, Cork’, ‘Pageant in High Street’, ‘I like Dublin’, ‘Shakespeare in the Cradle’, and ‘Lourdes / November 18th 1923’. It appears that many of the articles are incomplete.
