Burke, C.P., Edmund: General Documents: Irish Papal Army: letter from Marie O'Doherty, University College, Belgrove, Donnybrook, Dublin to Edmund, announcing the proposed celebrations to commemorate the men of St. Patrick's Battalion of the Papal Army who fought in 1860. She mentions Edmund's grandfather (maternal?), who evidently was a member of that battalion and reference is made to his cap and a photograph, which had been given to a Fr. Crean. A lecture on the Papal Battalion will be given by Prof. McBride at the Annual General Meeting of the Military Society, and the Society would be grateful if Edmund would speak to that paper. On the title page is a note of thanks from Fr. Caspar, C.P., to Edmund for a job well done, dated 12.10.1960. Attached to fly-leaf is a letter from Fr. Caspar to Edmund conveyng the WF General's appreciation. Caspar makes the point that the translation will be used in the Philipines as well as in Africa. THIS ITEM IS MISSING. At this location is a letter from the General to Edmund, dated 06.10.1960 congratulatng Edmund on the translation and telling him it will be of great assistance to our Fathers in Jeruselem, where one of them is chaplain to an old folks' home whose immates are mostly Muslim and where there has already been several converts. In view of the missing item above, this letter is being located in this spot.
