The letter is signed by Goldsmith at the ‘Temple Exchange Coffee House near Temple Bar / London, Aug. 15th 1758’. It is noted that the original letter is in the possession of the publishers of the facsimile.

The note carries the inscription around the edges: ‘General Strike Against British Militarism.
