1846034 St. Charles of Mount Argus: Miscelaneous: Memorabilia: Sign: typed note, on an envelope, by Fr. Oliver Kell;y, C.P. It gives details of how an original letter from Fr. Wilfred O'Hagan, C.P., concerning the sign, which was on St. Charles's body while he was lying in state, was given to Mount Argus, along with the sign itself, on 28 October, 1980. The letter accompanied the sign, which Wilfred sent to Miss Ada Sheehy on 10 January, 1893. This is authenticated by a letter from the donor,Michael Sheehy, Coolemount, Rhode, Offaly. (a nephew of Ada Sheehy), who inherited both letter and sign. The Michael Sheey's letter of autnebtication, together with Wilfred's letter (with some safety repairs), are included in this arrangemet Also included are photocopy of Wilfred's letter and a typed copy of the text. THE SIGN IS NOW LOCATED IN THE ST. CHARLES MUSEUM.

1846034 St. Charles of Mount Argus: Miscellaneous: a small bound notebook, containing in 46 pages, the MS account by an Edith Erskine of an intereview she says she had with Fr, Charles in Mount Argus during which, at her prompting, she alleges that he made a prophesy of the sufferings she would endure in her lifetime. The MS contains some curious references to the way her life, in later years, was tormented. This MS might have a curiosity value. It is highly emotional and somewhat irational. A typed copy of the MS is attached.

1846084 St. Charles Houben, C.P., Miscellaneous: Memorabilia: Snuff Box: Ms leter from Alfred Robert Arnold, 7 Wentworth Road, Manor Park, E.12 (Dublin?), possibly to Vice-Postulator. concerning a snuff box, which he states belonged to Fr. Charles and which he would like to donate to Mount Argus. It is not clear whether this actually happened. A detailed description of the box and how it came to be in his keeping is given. Particularly with regard to the details of the original Passionist donor, Fr. Matthew Kelly, it does not correspond with either of the 2 snuff boxes which we have and which are now in the St. Charles Museum. It seems that this kind offer was not followed up: or, if it was, the snuff box is no longer availible in Mount Argus. It is believed that there a snuff box, alleged to have been used by St. Charles, is located in Munstergeleen. Correspondence with there will have to be undertaken in order to acwertain if that might be the one in question. See also item under serial number 10067 which is a letter auntheticating one of the snuff boxes mentioned above.

Ignatius was Rector in his Anglican days 1824-30. Located about 6 miles from CP nuns at Daventry. Cf. 4470, at 3/2/2/10, re this church.

Spencer, Ignatius, C. P: CATHOLIC APOSTOLATE; Handwritten letter from Princess Marie Stuart d'Albanie, Presburg (Hungary) to Ignatius. Details the story of her Aunt, a non-Catholic, and Ignatius's campaign for prayers for conversion of England. Details of the aunt's death as a Catholic. Also contains a brief note written by Salvian Nardocci about the letter. Photocopy of this letter was sent by Declan O'Sulliven, C.P., to an enquirer on behalf of a descendent of Fr. Ignatius. She gives a brief account of the subsequent history of Carstairs house and suggests other sources Urban might consult about Ignatius.

In answer to request he says what he thinks of the position of the Church in England, and what should be done. Towards the end of this long letter he mentions the CPs. Mentions Phillipps has a chapel he would hand over and a house that would take 6 religious.
