Receipt and Expenditure Record Book

Daily receipt and expenditure book for the Capuchin community, Church Street. The entries are made in ‘Dollard’s Scribbling Diary for 1926’ and record various sundry expenses including payments made for newspapers, stamps, and various other subscriptions. Other entries relate to payments made by various religious (possibly for retreats and missions). Entries are in the hand of Fr. Angelus Healy OFM Cap.

Register of accounts with various suppliers for goods and services supplied to the Capuchin friars in Church Street. The register includes accounts for pharmaceuticals, wine, and various foodstuffs. Fr. Denis Corkery OFM Cap. annotated some of the pages in the volume with Irish language extracts.

Cheque Lodgement Book

Cheque and bank lodgement receipt book of the Capuchin community, Church Street. The book provides details of cheque payments made in respect of the friars’ expenses, electricity and other utilities, medical costs, church repairs, tax, salaries (organist), books and other outlays. The volume also includes entries noting lodgements of cash in the bank and withdrawals via cheques. The entries are periodically signed by the Provincial Minister (on visitation).

Statements from the National Bank, 34-5 College Green, Dublin, for accounts held by the Capuchin community, Church Street. The statements cover the periods: 8 Jan. 1937-28 Nov. 1939; 16 May 1949; 1 May 1952-25 Nov. 1955; 30 Nov. 1955-26 May 1960; 27 May 1960-29 June 1963; 31 Jan. 1962-31 Dec. 1965. The accounts provide details of cheques paid to various recipients and to lodgements made in cash and by cheque. The latter sets of statements are bound within soft covers with gilt title to cover. (26 cm x 26 cm).

Copybook containing notes by Fr. Conrad O’Donovan OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, for his visitation to the Capuchin missions in Northern Rhodesia and in South Africa. The volume includes notes re meetings with regular superiors, individual friars, horariums, local customs, school and church constructions, baptisms, and other aspects of general missionary work.

Letters from Bishop Francis Henneman SAC (1882-1951), Vicar Apostolic of the Cape of Good Hope, Western District, later Vicar Apostolic of Cape Town, to Fr. Edwin Fitzgibbon OFM Cap. and Fr. Colman Griffin OFM Cap., Provincial Ministers. The letters refer to requests for the Irish Capuchins to take over missionary outstations including those at Matroosfontein and in the Welcome Estate.

Letter from Sr. Maria Angela, a Capuchin Poor Clare, to Fr. Colman Griffin OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, seeking copies of the 'Ordo' for the Divine Office. She wrote: ‘Now we are in need since the war began. We have no more connection with our Home Convent and received no more orders from there like we received all the years’. Reference is made in the letter to the kindness shown to the sisters by Fr. Oliver O’Hanlon OFM Cap.
