• Transcript from the 'Limerick Reporter', 3 Sept. 1841, referring to the appointment of Fr. Mathew to the ‘High Office of Commissary Apostolic’. The extract reads ‘Proud indeed may Father Mathew be, that his vast toils, are thus recognised by the venerable Pope Gregory XVI. … We congratulate the Apostle of Temperance …’. Typescript, 1 p.
• Inscription on the Gong presented by Fr. Mathew to the South Presentation Convent in Cork. It reads: ‘May each sound of the bell be accompanied to the mercy seat by a pious supplication for the conversion of sinners of whom I am the chief / Theobald Mathew’. Manuscript, 2 pp.
• 'Dublin University Magazine', June 1849, containing a biography of Fr. Mathew and a description of his temperance campaign. Printed, pp 694-706.
• Copy letters of Fr. Theobald Mathew OSFC to John Maher, Mrs. C. Hall, Rev. T. Fitzgerald, Hugh Green, and Richard Scully, c.1846-7. Subjects include the Famine, the Ursuline Convent in Thurles, and his precarious financial situation. Typescript, 5 pp.

• Copy letters of Fr. Theobald Mathew OSFC. The copies were made by Fr. Stanislaus Kavanagh OFM Cap. An annotation on the first page suggests that some of the originals ‘are held in the Cork Museum’. Another annotation indicates that they were copied into an archival source book by Fr. Stanislaus. The notebook includes:

The file includes reports on the work of the Father Mathew Union, notes on temperance meetings, and lectures and sermons by Fr. Aloysius Travers OSFC and other friars in Father Mathew Hall, Dublin, and in Counties Cavan, Cork and Donegal, and in other locations.

Account book for missions and retreats conducted by the Irish Capuchin friars. Information is given in respect of the date, location, and duration of the mission, and the names of the Capuchin missionaries involved. Occasional reference is made to the type of mission and retreat given such as ‘temperance renewal’ or ‘triduum’. The cash received and the expenses incurred are also noted. Entries refer to the transfer of cash to a ledger.

Lists of retreats and missions given by the Capuchin friars. The lists provide information in respect of the names of the friars giving the mission or retreat, the location (with occasional reference to the parish priest), and the date. Several lists are extant in the file. The file includes:

Register of masses at the Church of St. Francis, Kilkenny. The entries include the signatures of the celebrants. The entries were routinely signed by the Provincial Minister at visitations. Monthly totals of masses are also periodically given. The title is given on the inside front cover: ‘Mass ledger opened 1st September 1938’. A manuscript endorsement is also extant: ‘Masses ad intentionem P. Generalis for 1938 – seven monthly and are said 1st Monday of each month’.
