Holy Cross Retreat, Ardoyne, Belfast; Dispute with Bishop McAllister: Foolscap sheets containng copy of Fr. Vincent Grogan's reply to Bishop McAllisiter's letter of 6 February (se item under serial number 1964). He gives notice of appeal to the Holy See. Gives 3 reasons why Passionists have privileges. All previous provincials, still living, agree with Vincent's statements. He rejects reference to scandalous behaviour (then cancels this out). Arthur Devine appends a note declaring that this is an exact copy of the letter sent to the Bishop..
Ardoyne: Dispute with Bishop McAllister. Fr. Anthony Carroll, Superior, Ardoyne, to Fr Provincial. Results of sending Architect's report on state of temporary church to Bishop. Bishop comes and visits locus and sees for himself how bad things are. Anthony urges Provincial to write NOW. (Note by Archivist, Declan O'Sullivan: "Dated Saturday morning Oct. 26th. 1889 is only year that fits.")
Holy Cross Retreat, Ardoyne, Belfast; Dispute with Bishop McAllister: Crib: Letter from the rector to the Propvincial. Deals with the Provincial's refusal to send a man to help with the "Fra Angelico case" ( crib?). He also recounts his dealings with the Bishop.
Holy Cross Retreat, Ardoyne, Belfast; Dispute with Bishop McAllister:Letter from Fr. Thomas, Consultor General to Arthur Devine. Little to report. Propaganda had advised seeing bishop then in Rome, but he had gone too soon to see him. Thomas had found that Cardinal Simoni's secretary had done nothing but he (Secretary) believes the proposed meeting with bishop will settle matters. Thomas also thinks the bishop's last letter shows that finance is at the botom of the row. Bishop's limiting number of Passionists to those required for parish is indefensible.
Holy Cross Retreat: Ardoyne; Belfast: Dispute with Bishop McAllister. Document from Provincial Vincent Grogan, to H.E. Card Simeoni, Prefect of the Sacred Congregation of Propoganda. It is the first draft of petition for permission to build the church at Ardoyne at CP expense. This is the document referred to in letter located under serial number 1992, and contains the addition drafted by Fr. Thomas, Consultor General.
