The two-storey building adjacent to the church is the manse (a name given to a house inhabited by a minister, typically from the Presbyterian, Methodist or other Reformed Protestant religions). The manse in Portlaw was occupied by the Reverend David Ferguson, Presbyterian minister in Portlaw, from about 1843 to 1887. The Presbyterian church in Portlaw was closed in 1931.
