The Band Hollow, Phoenix Park, Dublin

A photographic print of a large crowd at a musical performance at the Band Hollow in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, in c.1945. In the early twentieth century, the Dublin United Tramways Company sponsored the performances of brass bands on the bandstand in the Hollow not far from the Zoo in the Phoenix Park.

Marina Quay and the River Lee, Cork

An aerial view of Marina Quay and the River Lee taken from the Montenotte area in Cork. The original print is endorsed with an annotation on the reverse affirming that it was ‘passed by the censor’ suggesting that the photograph was taken some time between 1939 and 1945.

Freedom

A copy of 'Freedom' (17 Sept. 1922). The cover has a portrait of Lawrence Ginnell (1852-1923), a veteran Irish nationalist and opponent of the Anglo-Irish Treaty. The sketched-portrait was drawn by Constance Markievicz.
