A clipping of an obituary article titled ‘A Great Gaelic Scholar / Death of the Very Rev. Dr. O’Hickey’ (‘Clonmel Nationalist’, 22 Nov. 1916). The opposite page has a print of Fr. Michael O’Hickey with a manuscript annotation which reads ‘Born at Carrickbeg, Carrick-on-Suir, 12th March 1961. Died at Portlaw, Co. Waterford 19th November 1916. Ordained priest in Waterford 1884. Appointed Professor of Irish, Maynooth College 1896’.

A copy letter from Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. to Maud Gonne MacBride (1866-1953) referring to her distress at her son's (Seán MacBride) current difficulties. Fr. Senan contents that Seán is 'well able to fight a battle too, his mother's son'. He also mentions the letter he wrote to her about Francis Stuart.

A letter from Fr. Thomas Dawson OMI (1850-1939), Oblate House of Retreat, Inchicore, Dublin, to Fr. Henry Rope. Dawson includes a description of the events of Bloody Sunday in Croke Park on 21 November 1920. He writes 'sixteen young students, from a different house, were among those who escaped when they saw the armed forces coming. As they clambered over the embankments, the bullets were hopping about them, but the only hit among our youngsters was when one of them had the top of one finger shot off'. He also refers to a raid on the Oblate house of studies (most likely Belmont House in Stillorgan) and to the rough treatment meted out by the soldiers.

A letter from Eoin MacNeill (1867-1945) to Fr. Henry Rope. MacNeill argues that Roger Casement was 'remarkably sane and well balanced' and affirms that he had 'no opportunity of consulting with him' as he was in America when war broke out. MacNeill also refers to his Irish history scholarship and to his work as chairman of the Irish Manuscripts Commission.

A letter from William O'Brien, Bellevue, Mallow, County Cork, to Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. O'Brien encloses a subscription for a fund to support the publication of the late Father Henebry's work on Irish music.

Letter from John Henebry (Eoin de Hindeberg) to Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. He refers to his shock on hearing that some pages from a manuscript written by his late brother (Fr. Richard Henebry) have been lost. He expresses his hope that the 'lost tunes' will be found. The manuscript referred to was published as a ‘A Handbook of Irish Music’ in 1928.
