He also refers to Éamon de Valera’s plans to abolish the Senate. Walsh writes ‘I see by today’s papers that the Senate is to be abolished, so Dev is now free to ruin poor old Ireland as much as he pleases! Visions of Russia, Mexico and Germany!!!! God save Cosgrave’.
