The print shows the building before the addition of the Sacred Heart Chapel which was built as an aisle church in 1908. The caption refers to the ordination of Fr. A large group of both men and women (both sitting and standing) in St. Mary of the Angels, Church Street, Dublin. Most of the individuals are wearing Father Mathew Temperance Society badges and medals. They are almost certainly members of the lay temperance association attached to the church.

A view of Lower Main Street in Graiguenamangh, County Kilkenny, in about 1905. The image was probably taken (or acquired) by Fr. Angelus Healy OFM Cap. (1873-1953), a Capuchin friar who was a native of Graiguenamangh. A horse drawn carriage (called a ‘brake’) can be seen carrying passengers on the right of the road. These were extensively used in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as a means of public transport and conveyance. Going in the opposite direction is what appears to be some sort of parade of horses and jockeys (in apparently elaborate silks).

A transcript of ‘An elegy to the memory of my much beloved and lamented friend Mr William Woodlock (born 1741; died 1825) of the town of Roscrea’. The second page of the transcript has family history notes by William Woodlock (1832-1890), including a partial family tree which indicates that William Woodlock (1741-1825) was his great-grandfather. An additional entry notes that William Paul Woodlock (c.1780-1834) left Roscrea in 1798.
