Dublin Total Abstinence Association Medal

A pledge medal of the Dublin Total Abstinence Association dating to 1840. The front (face) shows the Good Shepherd. The outer-rim inscription reads ‘I have found the sheep that was lost Luke Chap. 15 v. 6’. The obverse has a cruciform text of the pledge and reads: ‘I have voluntarily promised in the presence of the Revd. Dr. Spratt to abstain from all spiritous liquors and intoxicating drinks except used medicinally and then by order of a medical man and the discountenance of all the vices and practices of intemperance and also to attend to my religious duties’. The outer-rim inscription reads ‘The Dublin Total Abstinence Pledge The Very Revd. Dr. Spratt Patron 1840’. The maker of the medal was J. Taylor.
Dublin College Green By-Election Flier

An election flier printed during the Dublin College Green by-election which was held on 11 June 1915. The flier was produced by John Dillon Nugent (1869-1940), a Dublin Corporation councillor and a member of the Irish Parliamentary Party. The flier accuses Nugent’s opponent Thomas Farren (1879-1955), a leading trade unionist, of ‘Larkinism’ and pro-German sympathies.

Pamphlet titled 'Draft Constitution as approved by Dáil Eireann ... Stand by Ireland's Declaration of Independence and Social Justice / Vote "Yes" on July 1st'. The text contains the draft of the Fianna Fáil-drafted Irish constitution of 1937. Includes side-by-side Irish translation of the English text. The constitution was translated into Irish over a number of drafts by a group headed by Micheál Ó Gríobhta (assisted by Risteárd Ó Foghludha) from the Department of Education. Issued by the Director of Elections for and on behalf of Fianna Fáil candidates, 13 Upper Mount Street, Dublin.

Declaration of Muriel MacDonagh’s (wife of Thomas MacDonagh) reception into the Catholic Church. It reads: ‘I Fr. Aloysius OSFC declare that … I have this eighteenth day of April 1917 received into the Catholic Church Mrs. Muriel MacDonagh observing the prescribed rites and ceremonies’. The document is signed by Muriel Mary MacDonagh.
