Register book of brothers of the Third Order of St. Francis attached to Holy Trinity Church, Cork. Gilt title to front cover. The volume is divided into distinct sections:
• Manuscript index containing 113 names of brothers and their number on the registered certificates of profession extant in the volume.
• List of officers (and their rank) on the council of the Third Order under the supervision of Fr. William, President. 23 May 1875.
• Minutes of the proceedings of council meetings of brothers of the Third Order. 25 May 1875-3 Dec. 1899.
• Page titled ‘Attendance sheet of discreets selected at council meetings’. 7 Aug. 1898.
• Printed forms of professions of brothers of the Third Order. 28 Mar. 1869-7 Dec. 1890.
• Blank forms of profession are inserted at the end of the volume.

Register book of brothers of the Third Order of St. Francis

The volume contains lists of brothers of the Third Order of St Francis attached to the Capuchin Friary, Walkin Street, Kilkenny. The title is signed: Fr. Albert Mitchell OSFC, Director, 28 Sept. 1873’. An annotation on the end of title page reads: ‘Many of these names inscribed in this book have been transferred from the members [primer] book which was not properly kept’. A later annotation reads: ‘N.B. The names in this book to page vi inclusive have been transferred further on, as the book was not properly kept and many new members of the order had been omitted. The new list begins at p. viii. Thus:-
Page viii and following contain the names of the brothers living on 1 January 1904.
Page xi. The brothers living who have been isolated.
Page xiv. The deceased brothers, as on 1 Jan. 1904.

Entries are initially listed under ‘Number, name, address, when professed, by whom professed and remarks’. Some of the remarks include comments relating to the date of death of the member, references to emigration and expulsion from the Third Order. Page viii is titled: ‘List of brothers of the Third Order of St. Francis attached to the Capuchin Friary, Walkin Street, Kilkenny, 1 Jan. 1904’. This portion of the list may have been started by the aforementioned John O’Connell. An annotation on the final page reads: ‘S.G. Dunne, R.T. Burke transferred to new register, 4 May 1939, J. Clifford’.

Register and Minute Book

The full title of the bound volume is Registers and Minute Book of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association of the Sacred Heart. The registration number attached to the Centre at Presentation Convent Killarney was Reg. No. 1873. It includes date of appointment, name, address, of the Working Council, it gives details of the Probationers and the Pioneers.

Walsh & Company, solicitors, regarding applications for the renewal of licenses from the courts for the promotion of lotteries and other gaming activities. Correspondents include Br. Kevin Crowley OFM Cap., Fr. Senan Dooley OFM Cap. and Br. Daniel O’Brien OFM Cap. With promotional fliers, advertisements and notices regarding bingo meetings in the Hall.

Record of Baptisms at the Loanja Mission

Notebook containing a record of the baptisms at the Loanja mission, Bartoseland, Northern Rhodesia. The record (which includes entries of adult baptisms and references to 'articulo mortis' or 'at the moment of death') was compiled by Fr. Seraphin Nesdale OFM Cap. (1897-1980). The entries are listed under local (birth) name, tribe, village, Christian name, date of baptism, minister officiating, date, and in some instances date of death and place of burial. The end pages of the volume also contain miscellaneous notes re baptisms at the mission. With manuscript annotations (in Irish) by Fr. Padraig Ó Cuill OFM Cap. re Fr. Seraphin.

The volume contains lists of life and temporary members of the Association and records members who were given temperance badges. The book appears to have been compiled by Fr. David Kelleher OFM Cap.

List of missions and retreats given by the Capuchin friars of Holy Trinity Church, Cork. Gilt title to front cover of the volume reads: ‘Record of Missions / Capuchin Friary / Cork’. The information is given under the headings of place, diocese, name of conducting priest and remarks. From 1927-48, a single entry referring to missions and retreats conducted by Fr. Joseph Fenlon OFM Cap. (1875-1963) and other friars in the United States and in Canada is made. Periodic reference is made to the success of a mission such as the enrollment of 1,710 individuals into the Father Mathew Temperance Association attached to the Church Street Friary, Dublin, in April 1909.

The information is given under the headings of place, diocese, name of conducting priest and remarks (usually the name of the group, sodality (Third Order of St. Francis), confraternity, or congregation to whom the mission or retreat was given). A clipping of an article titled ‘Hints to Preachers’ from 'The Tablet' (10 Dec. 1960) is inserted into the front of the volume. A colour print of a group of religious from the Scarboro Foreign Mission Society is also pasted into the front of the volume.

Several typescript inserts referring to individual retreats or lists of missions in particular years are present in the volume. Occasional reference is made to the success of a mission such as the enrollment of individuals in the Third Order of St. Francis, or to the establishment of local temperance association.

The information is listed by date of reception, name, address, name in religion, section number, by whom introduced and remarks (name of sodality to which member was attached). An annotation on the first page reads ‘novices on books in 1936: 274’.
