Augustine (John) Hayden OSFC to take down a wall and construct windows at the rear of a premises occupied by Father Mathew Hall, Queen Street, Cork.

Agreement of Patrick Pearse with the Intermediate Education Board

Draft legal agreement between Patrick Pearse and the Intermediate Education Board for Ireland for funds for the provision of ‘equipment and appliances for the practical teaching of the Natural and Experimental Sciences’ in St. Enda’s School in Rathfarnham, Dublin. With a schedule of annual payments to be made by Pearse to Education Board from 1910 to 1920. The agreement is signed by Pearse and is dated 24 January 1911. The document is in typescript with various manuscript additions (8 pp). The file includes two printed copies of the agreement. The printed copies appear to be unsigned.

Agreement of Fr. Fiacre Brophy and others with Joseph Sullivan

Agreement of Fr. Fiacre Bartholomew Brophy OSFC and Fr. Matthew Thomas O’Connor OSFC, Father Mathew Quay, Cork, and Fr. Jarlath Thomas Hynes, OSFC and Fr. Augustine John Hayden OSFC, Rochestown, Cork (the vendors), with Joseph Sullivan, King Street, Cork, merchant, for the residue of a term of 800 years granted in a lease from Joseph King to John Reynolds, dated 28 Feb. 1805, at the yearly rent of £34 2s 6d. The agreement is subject to certain legal stipulations and covenants including the requirement to keep the top garret and second floor windows which overlook the ‘recreation gardens of the vendors fitted with muffed and ribbed glass’. Agreement for sale from William Adams, Queen Street, to Fr. Matthew (Thomas) O’Connor OSFC, Fr. Leonard (Michael) Brophy OSFC and Fr. Fidelis (Michael) Neary OSFC, Holy Trinity Church, Cork, for premises on Queen Street held under a lease dated 1 Jan. 1846 (CA/HT/2/1/1/9) and for a property known as No. 13 Queen Street held under a lease dated 1 Oct. 1887 for 99 years at the yearly rent of £20. The properties were purchased for £840 free from encumbrances. With searches, bills, instructions for counsel, letters from William Guest Lane, solicitor, and an assignment of said leases from Adams to the Capuchin friars dated 29 Mar. 1900.

Agenda Papers and Resolutions

Agendas and notes of resolutions passed by the Committee of the Catholic Boys’ Brigade, Church Street. The lists also supply the names of those who attended the various meetings. The resolutions mainly refer to the need to campaign for subscriptions to support the organisation. The file includes a note relating to the outlay of the organisation. A total of £278 7s 11½d was spent on various items including uniforms, advertisements in newspapers, repairs to the hall, coal, and musical instruments.

African Mission Album of Fr. Jarlath Gough OFM Cap.

Photographic album of Fr. Jarlath Gough OFM Cap. (1902-1983). The album contains un-captioned black and white prints relating to Fr. Jarlath’s time as a missionary in South Africa. The album includes some views of local worship including communion groups and photographs of religious sisters (probably in South Africa). With prints of Athlone Catholic Hall in Cape Town, South Africa, Fr. Agathangelus Herlihy OFM Cap. (1911-1968), and the grave stone of Fr. Eustace Burke OFM Cap. (d. 2 Oct. 1949).
