• The articles refer to the re-naming of the Church Street (formerly Whitworth) Bridge as Father Mathew Bridge over the River Liffey, Dublin, in October 1938, to various ceremonies held to mark the anniversary (particularly in Dublin and Cork, and in Thomastown Castle, County Tipperary, Fr. Mathew’s birthplace), and to the Father Mathew Centenary stamp designed by Sean Keating RHA.

Physical condition: Bound in contemporary hard covers with gilt title to spine. The volume is in poor condition. The spine cover has completely disintegrated and front cover is partially detached from the text block. Foxing to opening pages. The page-edges are frayed and brittle. Very careful manual handling is required.

The final pages of the volume contain monthly totals of masses said by individual priests for Apr. 1977-Oct. 1979. The entries are periodically signed by the guardian, the Provincial Secretary (16 Dec. 1976), and the Provincial Bursar.
