Receipt and expenditure book of the Capuchin Publications Office. The accounts provide details of cash lodgements, and income accruing from advertising, sales of the 'Orange Terror' offprint, the 'Angelic Shepherd', the ‘Irish Saints’ Cards’, designed by Richard King, and from the Association Patrons of 'The Capuchin Annual'. Includes figures for expenditure in respect of salaries, postage, and payments made to John English & Co., printers. The first part of the journal includes a list of promoters (possibly for 'The Capuchin Annual') and two inserts of accounts from 1938 which are seemingly unconnected to the Publications Office.

A file containing ‘Lastre a gelatine bromuro d’argento … di Cappelli, Milano’ box containing four large plate reproductions of an original manuscript. The box cover gives two dates of 1906 and 1911 (probably company awards). A faint manuscript annotation on the box reads: ‘Catalogo Campione’. The manuscript is titled on the first plate: ‘De haeresis Anglicanae in Iberniam intrusione et progressu, et de Bell Catholico ad annum 1641 caepto, exindeque per aliquot gesto, Commentarius’. The plates are images of the original copy of the ‘Commentarius Rinuccinanus’ held in the Archivio Storico Milano. The original text was destroyed in a bombing raid on Milan during the Second World War.
File relating to temperance meetings and demonstrations organised by various trade and workingmen’s associations in Dublin. Includes handbills, fliers for meetings held in Father Mathew Hall, Church Street, Dublin, and letters to Fr. Aloysius Travers OSFC from the Operative Plasters’ Society, the Painters’ Trade Union and the Irish National Foresters’ Benefit Society. With a complete copy of 'The Drapers’ Assistant, the Official Journal of the Irish Drapers’ Assistants’ Benefit and Protective Association', IV, no. 2 (May 1906).
A letter and notes from Conor A. Maguire re his article titled ‘Republican Courts’ in 'The Capuchin Annual' (1969). Maguire provides some additional detail in relation to the photographic of the Republican Court sitting in Westport in 1920 (p. 383). The note reads: ‘I recognise John Kelly, later County Registrar, and J.C. Garvey, Solicitor, Castlebar, from whom I received the photograph after the Truce. He told me that he had arranged to have it taken and had kept it hidden behind the shutters in his office. Noticeable at the back are two of the IRA Police, easily identifiable, as they stand at attention with their caps on. One, I understand, was Seán Gibbons’

Expense journal of William Woodlock, 13 Hardwicke Place, Dublin. A manuscript annotation on the title page gives the date 13 August 1863. A note on the first page by William Woodlock reads ‘1863 / Kate [his sister] left Dublin, August 11, (Tuesday) for Bruges. Joseph [his brother] left Dublin, Thursday, August 13 for Cork, on his way to Australia … Am now left alone, and open a new account. W[illiam] W[oodlock]’. An additional note at the bottom of the opening page reads ‘Joseph sailed from Queenstown for Brisbane, Queensland, in the “Fiery Star”, Wednesday, August 19, 1863’. The remainder of the volume contains entries for routine expenditures including washing, cigars, stamps, and stationary.
A volume containing entries compiled by Fr. Patrick Sheehan seemingly covering the years 1874 to 1875. The dated chronicles are titled ‘A leaf from a life’. The diary-like entries are mostly routine providing a record of religious observance and meetings with various clergymen, religious, and lay individuals particularly in the Cloyne diocese in County Cork. The opening pages have been ripped from the volume and the first dated entry reads ‘Sept. 1. 1874. As usual, Met C.B. accompanied him home. Visited the original pepper in company Frs. Field & O’Keeffe’. Some literary content, personal reflections, and references are included in the text. Loose expense accounts are inserted towards the end of the volume. The entries in these accounts include ‘charity list’, rail and travel expenses, tailoring, stationary and other forms of routine expenditure.
