Newspaper Cuttings Book

Originally a printed book: 'In memoriam, Peter Fenelon' Collier (New York: privately printed, 1910), 113 pp. The book was subsequently used to house newspaper cuttings mainly relating to the history and friars of the Capuchin community, Holy Trinity Friary in Cork. The volume includes cuttings relating to triduums, ordinations, transfers, provincial chapters, missions and retreats, the Third Order of St. Francis, a note on the Father Mathew Chalice, and various Capuchin apostolates in Cork. The volume also contains obituaries of Fr. Bernard Jennings OSFC (d. 26 Dec. 1904); Fr. Cyril O'Sullivan OSFC (9 Dec. 1921); Fr. Fiacre Brophy OSFC (d. 5 Oct. 1926). Includes an original photographic print of Fr. Fiacre’s funeral; Fr. Peter Bowe OSFC (d. 25 Nov. 1926); Fr. Dermot O’Reilly OFM Cap. (d. 9 May 1945); Fr. Crispin Brennan OFM Cap. (d. 3 July 1949); Fr. Pacificus Ryan OFM Cap. (d. 1 July 1950); Fr. John Butler OFM Cap. (d. 3 Oct. 1950); Archbishop Sylvester Mulligan OFM Cap. (d. 23 Oct. 1950); Fr. Thomas Dowling OFM Cap. Father Mathew Feis Programmes

Programmes for the Father Mathew Feis, Cork. The printed programmes include timetables and syllabuses of competitions, and souvenir publications. The programmes list the dates and times of the competitions and the names of the various judges and adjudicators. The following programmes are extant: 1927-8; 1932; 1937-8; 1941; 1946; 1961; 1963-4; 1968; 1971-9;
1980-9; 1990-9; 2000-13; 2015.

Newspaper clippings

Newspaper clippings mostly relating to the Feis Maitiú, Cork. Many of the clippings include photographic prints of the opening of the Feis. Includes clippings from the 'Evening Press', 'Evening Echo' and 'Cork Examiner'.

Register of Masses

Register of masses at St. Mary of the Angels. The volume also includes occasional lists of mass intentions. The title page contains a manuscript annotation: ‘Missarum Liber Patrum Capuccinorum’. Both the front and end covers are decorated with rough sketches and drawings of crosses with various signatures and other scribbles. A drawing of a cross contains the inscription: ‘In R.I.P. memoriam Hic Jacet [here lies] Revd. James Edward Tommins OSFC (1812-1889)’. One of the other sketches shows a procession and is titled ‘In memoriam, Church Street, Sunday, May 4th 1884’.

Register of Masses

Register of masses at St. Mary of the Angels. The title page is annotated: ‘St Mary of the Angels. … Patrick Nolan departed this city on April, 2nd 1907’. The Mass entries are periodically signed by the Provincial Minister at visitations.
