• Copy inventory of the works of John Hogan (1800-1858), sculptor. The photocopy is from John Turpin, 'John Hogan, Irish neoclassical sculptor in Rome, 1800-1858 / a biography and catalogue raisonné' (Dublin, 1982). The extract refers to the busts of Fr. Theobald Mathew OSFC. Reference is made to No. 41, a marble bust of Fr. Mathew in the Capuchin Friary, Church Street, Dublin [now in the National Museum of Ireland]. The bust is inscribed ‘Hogan’ in monogram. No. 43 is described as a plaster bust of Fr. Mathew in the Capuchin Friary, Church Street, Dublin. It is inscribed ‘Fr. Theobald Mathew, Ord. Capuchin. He is wearing the Capuchin habit with folded hood. The face is slightly more uneven and less glassy than the marble, for which it is principally a study. W. Strickland, "Dictionary of Irish Artists", in his list of Hogan’s works, mentions a bust of Fr. Mathew in the collection of H.J. Maguire, Anglesea Road, Dublin, which may have been identical to this one …’. With photographic print of Hogan’s marble bust of Fr. Mathew (21.5 cm x 16.5 cm).

The Franciscan Capuchin Mission Manual published at St. Mary of the Angels, Church Street, Dublin. The manual contains hymns, information on mission ceremonials, notes on the Father Mathew Total Abstinence Association, and the form of the pledge to be taken at missions given by the Capuchin friars.

Lists of retreats and missions given by the Capuchin friars. The lists provide information in respect of the names of the friars giving the mission or retreat, the location (with occasional reference to the parish priest), and the date. Several lists are extant in the file. These include:
• List of temperance missions given by the Capuchin friars in the dioceses of Tuam, Raphoe, Clonfert and Elphin in 1909.
• List of retreats given by the Capuchin friars from Feb.-Aug. 1909.

List compiled by Fr. P. MacNamara of members of the temperance society in the parish of Clonmacnoise, King’s County (416 adults and 188 under the age of 21). Report on the Capuchin Temperance Mission in Ireland compiled by Fr. Thomas Dowling OSFC (1874-1951) , Provincial Minister, in response to a request from the General Minister of the Order in Rome. The report refers to the progress of the temperance crusade in Ireland and includes information on the number of missions preached and total abstinence pledges taken. The report notes that the Capuchins have ‘administered the Sacraments of Confession and Holy Communion to 1,200 on each Mission. … We have given the pledge to an average of 800 in each Parish and have a record of having administered the Pledge since the beginning of this Crusade to 1,141,191’.
