Lease by Margaret Wood, widow, Cork, and Rev. Joshua Browne Ryder, Castlelyons, Cork, to Robert Warner, Cork, master cooper, of a stable, coach house and concerns lately in the possession of William Cash and George Evans situated on Queen Street for 800 years at the yearly rent of £25. With attached sketch map of the demised premises delineated in hand-washed colour. The map was drawn by John Deeble, architect, 13 Cook Street, Cork, and is dated 25 Aug. 1845. With a copy memorial of said lease made by the Assistant Register of Deeds, 9 Dec. 1950.
Lease by John Jameson & Sons, distillers, Bow Street, to Fr. Joseph Bernard Jennings OSFC, Fr. Patrick Columbus Maher OSFC and Fr. Joseph Harkins OSFC, Capuchin Convent, Church Street, of a plot and parcel of land situated on the west side of Church Street as delineated in green on an annexed sketch map, for 90 years at the yearly rent of £13 10s. The sketch plan of the demised premises is drawn at a scale of 20 feet to 1 inch. With a similar lease between the said parties relating to a plot of ground on the east side of Bow Street ‘and a piece of ground at the rear thereof extending along the north side of the premises in the possession of John Jameson & Sons’ as delineated in yellow on an annexed sketch map, for 43 years at the yearly rent of 1s. The lease reserves to the lessor and his workmen ‘full and free liberty in case of necessity to open, repair and inspect the sewer extending from the back of the corn kiln of Messrs John Jameson & Sons and …. a right of entry through the entrance gate in Bow Street to the Chapel Yard at all reasonable times’. The file also includes drafts and copies of the said lease agreements and a copy memorandum of equitable deposit from the Capuchin friars to John Jameson & Sons for £103 as security.
Lease by Fr. Edward (Peter) Bowe OSFC, Fr. Bartholomew (Fiacre) Brophy OSFC and Fr. Nicholas (Maurice) Murphy OSFC, Church Street, to Bernard O’Reilly, dairyman, of the aforementioned old dwelling house and dairy yard situated on the north side of Carter’s Lane off Smithfield for 999 years in consideration of £182 and at the yearly rent of 1s. One of the covenants attached to the lease specifies that the lessee ‘will not use the said premises or permit the same to be used as an appurtenant to any of the purposes of a brewer, distiller, malt house or storage for the sale of intoxicating liquors or for any asylum hospital or other institution for any offensive, noisy or dangerous trade, business, manufacture or occupation of any nuisance …’. With a draft of the lease prepared by T.J. Furlong, 11 Eustace Street, Dublin. The file also includes a letter from Bernard O’Reilly to Fr. Fiacre Brophy OSFC on the subject of the said lease (1 Sept. 1914).
Lease by Fr. Edward (Peter) Bowe OSFC and other Capuchin friars, Franciscan Capuchin Friary, Church Street, to Robert Kavanagh, grocer, tobacconist and confectioner, of the dwelling house and premises known as no. 151 Church Street, together with a plot of ground upon which nos. 11-15 May Lane formerly stood, for 150 years at the yearly rent of 1s and in consideration of the sum of £300. With a letter from Seán Ó Huadhaigh, solicitor, to Fr. Angelus Healy OFM Cap., regarding Kavanagh’s lease of 12 May Lane and questions re the title to the premises. 20 Mar. 1969.
Lease by Fr. Edward (Peter) Bowe OSFC, Fr. Bartholomew Brophy OSFC and Fr. Nicholas Murphy OSFC, ‘the sub-lessors’, to John Morgan, North King Street, ‘the sub-lessee’, of ‘the piece or parcel of ground in Bow Street … bounded on the North by number 44 Bow Street, on the south by waste ground on which a weigh house formerly stood in the possession of Messrs John Jameson and Sons …’, for 135 years at the yearly rent of £10 and in consideration of the sum of £212 10s 0d. The deed contains an annexed sketch map depicting the demised premises. Scale: 16 feet to 1 inch. With apportionment by Fr. Edward (Peter) Bowe OSFC and others to John Morgan of rent and rates on the said properties. 1 Apr. 1908.
Lease by Fr. Cherubini Mazzini OSFC, Fr. Louis Pellicetti OSFC and Fr. Bernard Precious OSFC, Catholic clergymen, Queen Street, and Abraham Sutton, White Street, shop owner, to James O’Connell and others of a large room on the ground floor of the premises lately demised by the lessors from Robert Warner (see CA HT/2/1/2/13) ‘now known as the room of the Third Order of St. Francis’, on Charlotte Quay, for 740 years at the yearly rent of £40. A sketch map of the demised premises (measuring 36 feet by 34 feet) is attached. With counterpart lease and fire policy from Atlas Assurance Company, for the trustees of the Third Order of St. Francis, for ‘their Hall consisting of the ground floor only, at the rear of a store on Charlotte Quay … in the sole tenure of the said Society …’. 25 Mar. 1877.

The images include: 33 (a) Three individuals on the roadside just overlooking the village of Raffeen in County Cork. 33 (b) A group of five individuals (probably a family group) collecting berries along the roadside. 33 (c) A portrait of a sitting woman with a cottage in the background. 33 (d) Four individuals working on the train line at Mageney Railway Station, County Kildare. 33 (e) A family group of seven individuals (two women and five children). 33 (f) A kneeling religious wearing a broad-brimmed hat cradling a young dog. 33 (g) A view of the Strawberry Beds in Dublin in about 1910. 33 (h) A woman wearing a long dress and a flat cap standing at a garden gate. 33 (i) Five dray horses standing harnessed to carts hauling large kegs at the Jameson Distillery, Bow Street, Dublin. The file includes images of individuals, groups and landscapes. 36 (a) A glass stereo plate image of four women at the seaside cliffs known as Bridges of Ross, on the north side of the Loop Head peninsula in County Clare. 36 (b) A view of two Capuchin friars taking a break from an excursion on a jaunting car near Rochestown in County Cork in c.1908. The two friars are probably Fr. Jarlath Hynes OFM Cap. (1867-1918) and Fr. Casimir Butler OFM Cap. (1876-1958). The same image is extant at CA PH-1-23-S. 36 (c) A glass stereo plate of what appears to be unidentified deceased Capuchin friar in a coffin. This is probably an image of a deceased Fr. Sebastian O’Brien OFM Cap. (1867-1931). 36 (d) An interior view of Rochestown Friary Church in County Cork. 36 (f) A large group of both men and women (both sitting and standing) outside the main door to St. Mary of the Angels, Church Street, Dublin. Some of the men in the back row appear to be wearing temperance badges. They are probably part of a lay temperance association attached to the Church. 36 (g) A portrait of a man with beard (he does not appear to be a cleric) with a long waistcoat carrying a top hat. The plate has been scrubbed clean around edges and the upper right-hand portion of the plate is cracked with a fragment detached. 36 (h) A view of Lower Main Street in Graiguenamangh, County Kilkenny, in about 1905.
