Copy penciled sketch portrait of Fr. Dominic O’Connor OFM Cap. in the uniform of a British Army chaplain. Titled: ‘Fr. Dominic of Cork, OFM Cap.’.

Letters from Fr. Dominic O’Connor OFM Cap. to Fr. Paul Neary OFM Cap. reporting on his research on the early Irish Capuchins in continental archives including repositories in Troyes and Charleville, ‘home of the Irish Friars of former days’. Fr. Dominic affirms that ‘further communications would be safer if addressed to c/o Mr. Seán T. O Ceallaigh, Grand Hotel, Place de l’Opera, Paris’ (3 Dec. 1919).

Photographic prints by William Lawrence (1840-1932) of St. Francis’ Abbey, Kilkenny. Robert French (1841-1917) was the chief photographer responsible for photographing three quarters of the Lawrence Collection which is now held in the National Library of Ireland. The printed caption numbers read: 1463-6. W.L.

Founded by Edmund Finn in 1767, this newspaper was published in Kilkenny twice weekly (on Wednesdays and Saturdays). It also included local news from surrounding counties including Carlow, Kildare, Tipperary, and Waterford. Following the death of her husband in 1777, Catherine Finn took over the running of the paper. It was subsequently published as the 'Leinster Journal' (1801-1830), and the 'Kilkenny Journal and Leinster Commercial and Literary Advertiser' (1832-1922). The file includes the following editions:

Letters from John Earley, stained glass artist and church decorator, Upper Camden Street, Dublin, regarding the design and installation of windows and door panels at the Capuchin Church and Friary, Walkin Street, Kilkenny. The file includes letters to Fr. Jarlath Hynes OSFC, Fr. Berchmans Cantillon OSFC and Messrs Ashlin & Coleman, architects. Other works referred to include the erection of a tabernacle and canopy over the altar and a pulpit ‘made of the best selected Sicilian marble …’.

17 Mar. 1923 (Vol. 1, No. 9)-25 Oct. 1924 (Vol. 2, No. 41). The newspaper was published by the Irish Nation Committee, 6 Harcourt Street, Dublin. The series is incomplete but there are multiple copies of some issues.

Photographic prints relating to the visit to Ireland of President John F. Kennedy in June 1963. The photographs are primarily press prints credited to the 'Irish Times', the 'Irish Press', the 'Irish Independent' and Lensman Photographic Agency, Dublin. Other prints are credited to Liam Kennedy & Sons, photographers, 42 MacCurtain Street, Cork, and Ambrose O’Mullane, 15 Wellington Road, Cork. Many of the prints appeared in a special photographic section of 'The Capuchin Annual' (1964), pp 260-88, titled ‘President Kennedy in Ireland, 1963’. The file includes prints showing President Kennedy attending official functions in Dublin (including a state banquet in Iveagh House, and receptions in Dublin Castle and at Áras an Uachtaráin), at Arbour Hill Cemetery, in Wexford Town and in New Ross, and in motorcade processions on O’Connell Street, Dublin, and on St. Patrick’s Street, Cork. Other individuals appearing in the prints include Sean T. O’Kelly, Éamon de Valera, Frank Aiken, Seán Lemass, and Eunice Mary Kennedy.
