Eugene takes over as Vice-Provincial, but 2nd Consultor will deal with applications for missions. Asks that any spare Mass intemtions be sent on. Any relics without authentification to be sent to Provincial at Paris so that the matter can be rectified.

Holy Cross Retreat, Ardoyne, Belfast; Dispute with Bishop McAllister: Letter to Arthur Devine from the Consultor General, Thomas, Rome, with reference to his letter of 14 inst. and alleged ruling from Propoganda to Dominicans re bishop's powers to grant faculties to religious (see item under serial number 1981). That is not the position. Dominican's have made a submision with that conclusion to Propaganda, but that congregation doesn't want to annoy Irish bishops, so no ruling has ben given. It is said that Bishop McAllister will meet the provincial before answering Propaganda on Passionists' submission. Thomas hopes to see Cardinal (Prefect?) and read him Arthur's letter re crying need for more confessors. Even if there was a clear cut law, it could be evaded.
