Assignment of a lease by Francis King and Elizabeth Georgina Howard to Thomas Ronayne Sarsfield, Valentine Tomkins and others of all the premises comprised in a lease (dated 17 Oct. 1840) of premises on South Mall, Cork, for all of the unexpired residue of the term of 736 years subject to the rent reserved by and covenants and conditions contained in the said lease. Thomas Ronayne Sarsfield and the other parties to the assignment agree to pay all the rent and arrears of rent during the continuance of the aforementioned lease of 17 Oct. 1840.

The deed recites that Kate Horner (died 17 Aug. 1933) was possessed of premises on Walkin Street held on a monthly or weekly tenancy from the Corporation of Kilkenny. Mary Deegan, as Kate Horner’s executrix, agrees to sell the deceased’s interest in the premises subject to the payment of rent and the performance of the tenant’s obligations for £100. With copy memoranda of agreement and copy probate of Mary Kate Horner dated 10 Oct. 1933.

The lease recites an earlier lease (dated 31 Aug. 1855) from Frances and Grace Blair to Fr. James Lewis O’Reardon [var. Louis O’Riordan] and Fr. John Laurence O’Flynn of the ‘gateway and yard formerly held by Humphrey Semple and the house at present occupied by Thomas Aylward … and the plot of ground in the possession of the said Rev. John Laurence O’Flynn which said demised premises are situate in Walkin Street in the parish of Saint Mary, City of Kilkenny … forever at the yearly rent of £6’. The file also includes a conveyance (19 Aug. 1897) from Beledia Juliana Maher to Fr. Peter Bowe OSFC and others of the said gateway and premises on Walkin Street to hold in fee farm subject to the rents payable. It is noted that Beledia Juliana Maher was the principal heiress-at-law of the estate of the late Fr. Patrick Joseph Columbus Maher OSFC.
