The newspaper also reprints an article from the 'Kilkenny Journal' of 30 Oct. 1875 referring to the opening of the novitiate on Walkin Street.

One of the conditions specifies that ‘under no circumstances whatsoever … [shall] any person be allowed to remain in the Hall who in the opinion of the committee … is under the influence of drink or in any way disorderly’.
