Notes, memoranda, community lists and chronologies compiled by Fr. Angelus Healy OFM Cap. relating to the history the Capuchins in Cork. Volume containing notes on the history and records of the Capuchin community, Holy Trinity Friary, Cork. The front cover is annotated: ‘Cork OFM Cap. Archives, July 1954’. The volume was probably begun by Fr. Michael O’Shea OFM Cap. (1892-1958) in June 1954. The title page reads: ‘Archives of Holy Trinity, Fr. Mathew Quay, Cork. Very Rev. Fr. Mel Farrell, guardian (1952)’. An annotation on the inside front cover indicates that some of the contents of the volume were extracted from archives extant in a safe in the Friary called the ‘Stairchiste’. The volume is divided into a number of sections. The listing below follows the sequence of entries as found in the volume:

Notes by Fr. Xavier Reardon OFM Cap. (1899-1986) on matters relating to the history of Holy Trinity Church or to individuals connected with ministry in Cork. The file includes biographical notes on Fr. Matthew O’Connor OSFC (1859-1930) and Fr. Louis O’Riordan OSFC (d. 1857); a report on the opening of the Fr. Brendan Jennings memorial sanctuary (19 Apr. 1908); a report on the completion of Father Mathew Memorial Church, 'Cork Examiner', 29 Aug. 1891; a note affirming that ‘Fr. J.P. O’Connell was the last Provincial Minister after Fr. Theobald Mathew OSFC between 1855 and the reconstitution of the Province in 1855’; copy ordnance map extract showing Holy Trinity Church on Father Mathew Quay and the surrounding area including the location of the Assembly Rooms on South Mall.

• Conveyance from the Encumbered Estate Commissioners to Robert Hall, merchant, of the aforementioned premises at no. 6 Queen Street, in consideration of £250. 15 Nov. 1850.
• Lease by William Wise, Woolston House, North Cadbury, Bath, and Hugh Stanley Wise, Newton Abbott, Devon, to Thomas William Joseph Barry, hotel proprietor, Cork, of the said premises at No. 6 Queen Street, Cork, for 199 years at the yearly rent of £21. 27 Nov. 1890. • Conveyance by William Wise and Hugh Stanley Wise to Edwin Hall, Blackrock, County Cork, of the lessee’s interest of the aforementioned premises at no. 6 Queen Street in consideration of 10s. 24 Sept. 1894.
• Assignment by William Ringrose Atkins, chartered accountant, South Mall, Cork, and John Tweedy, solicitor, College Green, Dublin to William Carroll, Anglesea Street, Cork, of the residue of the unexpired lease of the aforementioned premises at no. 6 Queen Street in consideration of £205. 23 Dec. 1904.
• Assignment by William Carroll, Anglesea Street, Cork, to Rev. Fiacre (Bartholomew) Brophy OSFC and Rev. Matthew (Thomas) O’Connor OSFC, Father Mathew Quay, Cork, and Rev. Jarlath (Thomas) Hynes OSFC and Rev. Augustine (John) Hayden OSFC, Rochestown, County of Cork, of the residue of the unexpired lease of the aforementioned premises at no. 6 Queen Street in consideration of £550.

Copy assignment by John Henry Gamble, provisioning merchant, to Pierce Power, butter merchant, of the residue of a lease of premises on Queen Street dated 1 Jan. 1846 (see CA HT/2/1/1/9) in consideration of the intended marriage of Gamble’s second daughter, Ellen Louisa, to Pierce Power. Certified copy made by Henry Nobbett & Son, Cork, 19 Jan. 1867.

Assignment by Pierce Power, Cork, to Thomas Hewat, William Street, Dublin, trustee for the Provincial Bank of Ireland, of the premises in the parish of Holy Trinity, Cork, demised by a lease of 1 Jan. 1846 (see CA HT/2/1/1/9) and for the residue of the term granted by the said lease. In trust with a power of sale for said premises under certain conditions.
