Minute book of the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis attached to Holy Trinity Church, Cork. The title page refers to the role of Fr. Albert Mitchell OSFC (d. 27 Sept. 1893) as spiritual director. The volume contains a record of the monthly meetings of the female members of the sodality. Reference is also made to the receptions and professions of new members, the rules and spirituality of the sodality, and sermons and retreats given by the spiritual director and various Capuchin friars. Flier marking the Golden Jubilee of the foundation of the Third Order of St. Francis attached to Holy Trinity Church, Father Mathew Quay, Cork. The flier includes an address from Fr. Finbarr O’Callaghan OSFC (1879-1963), Spiritual Director. It reads: ‘On October 4th, 1866, Father Edward (Tommins) OSFC of Kilkenny – a saintly, simple-souled Capuchin Priest – received to membership of the Third Order, 5 young men, the pioneers of the Congregation. Of these pioneers – some of whom entered the First Order subsequently and are known as Brothers Felix and Joseph. … During the past 50 years the Congregation has steadily developed and today it numbers nearly 1,000 members’.
Proposed design for the completion of Holy Trinity Church, Cork by Edward Welby Pugin (1834-1875) and George Coppinger Ashlin (1837-1921). Print by J. Lewis, 29 Dame Street, Dublin. With a typescript note possibly by Fr. Angelus Healy OFM Cap. referring to the provenance of the proposed design. The note affirms that in June 1877 Ashlin had ‘been employed by Fr. Thomas, Superior of Cork, to examine the foundations of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Cork, with a view to completing the front of the Church, and erecting a Tower. … The proposed design shows portions of the Friary at both sides of the Church’. This proposal did not materialize, and the completion of the Church façade, and the erection of the spire was not done until the celebration of the centenary of the birth of Fr. Theobald Mathew OSFC in 1890.
Photographic print of Fr. Stephen OSFC (from Rheims, France) and Br. Leo OSFC (a Dutch Capuchin friar), probably in Holy Trinity Friary in Cork. An annotation on the reverse reads: ‘Sitting, Fr. Stephen – Capuchin at Rheims. He made part of his studies in Rochestown and was ordained in Cork about 1881. The other is Br. Leo who came to Ireland as Br. Master in 1875 or 74’. It should be noted that Br. Leo of Venlo OSFC, from the Capuchin Province of Paris, died on 27 January 1927. (See GP/119). The smaller copy print is annotated on the reverse: ‘Br. Leo, a Hollander, Fr. Stephen, a Frenchman’. The file contains the original print and a copy print.

Blake, solicitors, 27 Marlboro Street, enclosing a bill of costs for completing and registering a deed of conveyance of all the property at Father Mathew Quay and at Rochestown to Fathers Fiacre Brophy OSFC, Jarlath Hynes OSFC and Augustine Hayden OSFC as trustees. The total costs amounted to £28 6s 0d.
Letters to Fr. Martin Hyland OFM Cap., guardian, Holy Trinity, Cork, from J.C. Carroll & Sons, solicitors, 80 South Mall, Cork, regarding the proposed purchase by the Capuchins of rents payable to the estate of Richard Wood. The file includes rent receipts for the payment (1930-43) of the said rents ranging from £2 0s 0d to £11 13s 6d.
Letter to Fr. Edward Walsh OFM Cap., guardian, from J.C. & A. Blake, solicitors, 27 Marlboro Street, Cork, enclosing a memorandum from the Labour Exchange regarding the claims of Christopher Cotter for unemployment insurance following his period of work as a domestic at Holy Trinity Church.
Letters to Fr. Justin Hyland OFM Cap. (1893-1977), guardian, Holy Trinity Friary, Cork, regarding liability for property tax and deductions of income tax from ground rents payable by the Capuchin friars to the Dominican Order (Charlotte Quay) and to a Mrs Gardiner. With a letter from Robert McClement, auditor, enclosing a schedule of the ground rents paid by the Capuchins.
