A clipping of a report on the death of Peadar Kearney (Peadar Ó Cearnaigh) in the ‘Irish Press’ published on 25 November 1942. Kearney died (aged 58) on 24 November at his home in Inchicore, Dublin. Kearney is best remembered for writing the lyrics to ‘A Soldier’s Song’ (‘Amhrán na bhFiann’, the Irish-language translation, is the national anthem of Ireland). (Volume page 120).

Aloysius OSFC declare that … I have this fifteenth day of August 1916 received into the Catholic Church Mrs Lily Agnes Connolly observing the prescribed rites and ceremonies’. The document is signed by Lillie Agnes Connolly and witnessed by Fiona Connolly (1907-1976)

Declaration of Muriel MacDonagh’s (wife of Thomas MacDonagh) reception into the Catholic Church. It reads: ‘I Fr. Aloysius OSFC declare that … I have this eighteenth day of April 1917 received into the Catholic Church Mrs. Muriel MacDonagh observing the prescribed rites and ceremonies’. The document is signed by Muriel Mary MacDonagh.

Production stills from the 1938 film ‘The Island Man’, set on the Blasket Islands off the coast of County Kerry. The prints were assembled for a promotional article on the film published in ‘The Father Mathew Record’. The film starred Delia Murphy Kiernan (1902-1971), a well-known Irish singer and collector of traditional ballads.

Photographic prints of the demolition of the old Ard Mhuire Friary in County Donegal. Some of the images also show the shell of the former Ards House and construction work on the new friary building and oratory. Several of the prints show the two buildings during the transition phase of construction of the new House of Studies and Ards Friary. A small number of the prints have annotations on the reverse:
