The specification was compiled by John Smith & Son, architects, 88 Colmore Row, Birmingham. James Pearse had inherited his father’s shop in Bristol Street in Birmingham and seemingly had an architectural firm draw up plans for it to be converted into a newsagent and domestic dwelling.
