A flier advertising a lecture by Constance Markievicz in San Francisco in the United States in May 1922. The flier provides a biographical account of her life and political career up to that point. She left government in protest over the adoption of the Anglo-Irish Treaty and was a vociferous opponent of the agreement in the ensuing the Civil War. She travelled to the United States in early 1922 as a republican delegate and her lecture tour in the country (she visited Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, and Philadelphia) aroused considerable interest. Her tour also reputedly raised $50,000 to support the republican cause.
Flier for Brian Boru Fete and prize draw ‘to reduce a heavy debt of £3,800’ on Father Mathew Hall, Church Street. The first prize is a pony trap and harness, ‘a gift of a friend (the harness, a gift of J. Donnelly, North King Street)’.
A flier for the Fr. Michael O’Hickey Testimonial following his dismissal as Professor of Irish in St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth, County Kildare. The testimonial reads ‘Dr. O’Hickey has for many years taken a leading part in the promotion of the national Language Movement, which, in the belief of men of a parties, has inspired Ireland with a new life and a new power. It is now some years since the plain-spoken and telling words of his published addresses on Irish Education laid the foundation of a great reform in the then almost hopelessly Anglicised school systems of Ireland’. The testimonial includes a lengthy list of subscribers who have contributed to the fund.
An image of the first group of students at the Seraphic School in Rochestown, County Cork, in 1886. The individuals in the image include Fr. Matthew O'Connor OFM Cap., Guardian, Br. Leonard Brophy OFM Cap., Benedict MacDonald, and John Hayden (later Fr. Augustine Hayden OFM Cap.). Most of the individuals in the photograph (including Br. Canice Rice, Br. Jarlath Hynes, Br. Bonaventure Halvey and Br. Finbarr Sullivan) would go on to become solemnly-professed Capuchin friars.

An account extract for St. Enda’s School. Includes entries re liabilities and assets. References are made to ‘pupils’ fees paid’, laundry expenses, medical bills, and ‘grazing rents’. An entry refers to an overdraft from the Hibernian Bank ‘secured by lease of Cullenswood House, life insurance …’. The extract appears to be in the hand of Patrick Pearse.
