Copy writ of summons from Nicholas Shorthal, solicitor, 54 Middle Abbey Street, Dublin, to Fr. Thomas O’Connor OSFC to appear at the High Court of Justice (Probate and Matrimonial Division) in relation to a case of Peter Jackman, plaintiff, versus Charles and Catherine Dunphy, Rev. William Cassin, and Patrick Egan, defendants. The case involves a dispute about the will of John Jackman, late of King Street, Kilkenny (died 28 July 1895).
Bill of quantities for proposed Capuchin novitiate extension at Kilkenny by Gabriel M. Cleere, chartered quantity surveyor, 11 Ely Place, Dublin. It is noted that the ‘work included in this bill of quantities consists of the erection of a new two-storey re-enforced concrete-framed structure and connecting bridge across Pennyfeather Lane to the existing Friary’.
Copy probate and will of William Hogan, Kilkenny city. He bequeaths £20 to Fr. Edward Tommins OSFC and the clergy of the Walkin Street Friary for masses for the repose of his soul. Will of Elizabeth Roche of Ormonde Road, Kilkenny. She bequeathed to the Most Rev. Abraham Brownrigg, Bishop of Ossory ‘all monies in my name in government stock in trust … to pay the guardian of the Order of Franciscans in the City of Kilkenny ten pounds yearly for masses for the repose of my soul and those of the deceased members of my family to be celebrated in public in Ireland …’. The codicil is dated 26 Oct. 1904.
Acknowledgment from Fr. Ignatius Collins OFM Cap., guardian, regarding the receipt of £20 from the estate of Nora Tobin (late of Kells, County Kilkenny) for masses for the repose of her soul and those of her deceased relatives and friends.
Address to Archbishop Ignatius Persico OSFC (1823-1896) by the tertiaries of Kilkenny. Persico travelled throughout the country from July 1887 until January 1888 consulting prominent members of the hierarchy in relation to the Plan of Campaign and nationalist political agitation.
