A copy letter from An tAthair Peadar Ó Laoghaire, Castlelyons, County Cork, to Sister Treasa le hÍosa (possibly Sister Teresa Curtis, St. Clare’s Convent, Carlow). The letter refers to an Irish translation of a traditional Marian hymn. The letter reads ‘This Irish hymn can be sung to the same music to which the English senseless one is usually sung’.

Crimmins wrote ‘You have no idea of the number of appeals that come to me. I know something of our country and the poverty of our Catholic people in the South where for one hundred dollars a shack can be erected in which to hold church services. … For generations they have been living in that condition. I am unable to meet the demands that are made upon me here’.
