Bound volume containing photographic prints of missionaries mainly in Northern Rhodesia (later Zambia). The prints do not have accompanying captions. The album includes images of religious sisters (mainly Holy Cross Sisters) with African children, performing health care duties (including neo-natal care) and religious instruction (communion classes). There are also some prints of the Most Rev. Timothy Phelim O’Shea OFM Cap., Bishop of Livingstone. The volume also contains some images of churches mainly in Northern Rhodesia. It appears that several prints have been removed from the album.
A ring-binder containing colour photographic prints chronicling a visit to the Irish Capuchin missions at Livingstone, Katima Mulilo (Caprivi Strip), and Sesheke. With annotations from the compiler whose name is given but the signature is indecipherable. The album was given to Fr. Capistran Singleton OFM Cap. The file includes photographic prints of Fr. Luke Browne OFM Cap. and Fr. Eugene Mooney OFM Cap. with many views of local inhabitants and scenery.
Letters from Fr. Callistus Lopinot OFM Cap. (1876-1966), a Capuchin friar from Geispolsheim, Germany, Capuchin General Curia, Vice-Secretary of the Missions, to Fr. Kevin Moynihan OFM Cap. and Fr. Edwin Fitzgibbon OFM Cap., Provincial Ministers, re the appointment of a Regular Superior for the Irish mission in Northern Rhodesia.
Draft and copy letters of Fr. James O’Mahony OFM Cap. relating to the Irish Capuchin missions in Africa. The file includes copy letters to Fr. Edwin Fitzgibbon OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, Fr. Sylvester Mulligan OFM Cap., General Definitor, and Fr. Maurice Dowd OFM Cap., and a letter from Fr. Hilary McDonagh OFM Cap. On 21 May 1948, Fr. James wrote ‘We feel that there is great future for the Irish Province in South Africa where the Irish Capuchins were the first, and still stand alone, in their mission to pure natives in the Langa Compound’.

Report on the Livingstone Mission by Fr. Theophilus Murphy OFM Cap. (1928-2006) for the Irish Capuchin Provincial Chapter. The report is divided into the following sections:
Statistics compiled by the Regular Superior regarding the Irish Capuchin missions in South Africa and Northern Rhodesia. The statistical forms were compiled for the Capuchin General Curia. The forms include information in respect of the numbers of friars ministering at mission stations, the local populace (both European and indigenous), the numbers of Catholics and non-Catholics, the numbers of mission schools, hospitals and orphanages founded, and the numbers of baptisms and communions. The file includes a list of Irish Capuchins resident at mission stations in both Northern Rhodesia and in South Africa in June 1947 and in June 1952.
Schedules containing statements showing the ‘number of persons who, prior to the disaster, resided in Nos. 66 and 67 (the houses were completely demolished), the number killed, injured, and left homeless. The statement also includes the number killed and injured in house No. 64, and the amount of grants given’. Other schedules refer to the number of persons who vacated adjoining properties ‘through a reasonable sense of fear at the collapse of the houses 66 and 67 …’ and other relief actions to be taken.
