Notebook of Fr. Stanislaus Kavanagh OFM Cap. containing notes on the genealogy of Fr. Theobald Mathew OSFC. The volume includes a family tree showing the ancestry of Fr. Mathew. The notes are in a Dollard’s Scribbling Diary for 1926. With a transcript of a letter from Basil O’Connell to Fr. T.J. Walsh re the will of George Mathew of Thomastown (1760). The letter is dated 29 Aug. 1951

'The Fenian' was an Anti-Treaty newspaper providing the republican perspective on the course of Civil War hostilities. The paper warns that ‘insidious attempts have been made within the last few days by the English King’s Provisional Ministers to spread the rumour that a truce had been achieved. Under cover of this they hope to weaken the splendid morale of the republican troops and then attack them when off their guard’. The editions were bound together with a note indicating that they belonged to ‘Rev. Fr. Sebastian [O’Brien OFM Cap.], Church Street’.

An article by Fr. Luke Browne OFM Cap. referring to a ceremony held on 5 May 1991 recalling the sacrifice of Br. Louis de Vylder SJ, the first Catholic missionary to die in Barotseland. Mass was celebrated by the Most Rev. Raymond Mpezele, Bishop of Livingstone, who was assisted by several Irish Capuchin friars. The article cutting is probably taken from 'The Capuchin' magazine.
