Letter from Fr. Albert Bibby OFM Cap. to Fr. Peter Bowe OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, referring to his weakened condition and his closeness to death. He asks for 'forgiveness and pardon for all my faults, and for all the disedifications I have given, as well for all the violations of [the] Rule, Constitutions and Regulations of which I have been guilty'. Bibby asserts that he wishes 'to die a loyal member of the Irish Province'. He encloses a newspaper cutting from the 'Santa Barbara Daily News' (21 Jan. 1925) containing an article with (photographic prints) of Mission Santa Inés and ‘Padre Albert’. With a cover and copies.

Letter from Antoinette Reilly, Bord Fáilte, to Fr. Christopher Twomey OFM Cap. enclosing £200 in payment for permission to reproduce photographs of the plaster-work in Father Mathew Hall. With a copy of 'Ireland of the Welcomes', 49 (Mar.-Apr. 2000), which includes a feature on ‘Father Mathew Hall: A Celtic Revival Treasure’ by Nicola Gordon Bow (pp 14-21).

Letter from Mary MacSwiney (Máire Nic Shuibhne), 23 Suffolk Street, Dublin, to ‘Brother Shannon’ (Br. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap.), St. Bonaventure’s Capuchin Hostel, Cork, re the possibility of publishing of ‘Scéal “Sheandúin” in the ‘Sinn Féin’ newspaper. The file includes a copy of MacSwiney’s letter to Diarmuid Ó Murchadha about the matter in which she suggests that the journal would have a ‘wider and possibly more appreciative circle of readers’ in ‘Sinn Féin’. She expresses her regret on hearing of Fr. Aloysius’s recent illness. She wrote: ‘When I asked for you to go and see [her son] Don I had no notion that you were ill …’. She added ‘Please thank Fr. Albert from me and his promise to go and see Don, also for the copy of the Catholic Bulletin which I am delighted to have’. With photographic postcard print of ‘Donagh and Barbara MacDonagh children of Thomas MacDonagh, shot at Kilmainham, May 3rd 1916’.

Letter from [T. Martin?], 12 Trinity Street, Dublin, to Fr. Aloysius Travers OFM Cap. enclosing an Irish Volunteer button. One is in brass with a harp decoration. Also enclosed is a uniform badge: I.V. (Irish Volunteers) with green enamel inlay, initials and central harp, the reverse stamped ‘P. Quinn & Co., Belfast’. The letter informed Fr. Aloysius that ‘in searching among the ruins of G.P.O. I found the enclosed. I thought it might interest you and took the liberty of sending it to you’.

Letter from Terence MacSwiney (Toirdhealbhach Mac Suibhne) to Diarmuid [Ó Murchadha]. The letter encloses a printed notice from John Beresford, 5th Baron Decies, Chief Press Censor for Ireland, asking newspaper editors to refrain from publishing a statement issued by the members of a Cork club of Sinn Féin re an attack on the club by Royal Irish Constabulary (5 December 1917).

Letter from the Most Rev. Daniel Cohalan, Bishop of Cork, to Fr. Edwin Fitzgibbon OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, referring to the withdrawal of Fr. Dominic’s faculties due to his inability to take the examination for renewal of faculties. Bishop Cohalan also refers to his unease on reading an announcement in the papers that Fr. Dominic is to be appointed honorary chaplain to a brigade of the IRA. The Bishop wrote: ‘Now I put it to you that a lay body has no authority to confer an ecclesiastical honour from a lay authority’. He later asks Fr. Edwin: ‘Are you not conceding to a military brigade what belongs essentially to the church?’ With a copy reply from Fr. Edwin claiming that he knew nothing of Fr. Dominic's appointment as chaplain to the IRA until his attention was drawn to a report in the Cork newspapers.

Letter to Lena May Murphy, Cork, from Fr. Dominic O’Connor OFM Cap. (23 Nov. 1918). It reads: ‘I must thank you very sincerely for your great kindness to my dead father in his last illness. All at home are never done telling everybody of you and your wonderful goodness’. This letter was sent by [Maire] Murphy, 35 Mercier Park, Curragh Road, Cork, to Fr. Nessan Shaw OFM Cap. (13 Nov. 1991), explaining that Lena May Murphy was her late aunt. With a copy photograph of Lena May Murphy, and notes by Fr. Nessan re Lena May who worked as a nurse caring for elderly patients.

Letter from the Royal Insurance Office, to Margaret Pearse, Sandymount Avenue, Sandymount, Dublin, re a policy of life insurance on her late husband (James Pearse) and the amount paid to the National Bank Ltd. on his death. With two manuscript enclosures seemingly re James Pearse’s debts and his account with the National Bank (4 March 1902).
