The letters mainly refer to literary matters and contributions by Father Rope to various periodicals. The file also includes several cards from Andrew Hilliard Atteridge (1852-1941), 3 Killowen Villas, Isleworth, Middlesex, William Frederick Paul Stockley, and Germaine Stockley (Woodside, Tivoli, Cork).

A bound volume of letters to Fr. Henry Rope from William Frederick Paul Stockley (Woodside, Tivoli, Cork). The volume is annotated on the spine ‘Letters to Father H.E.G. Rope / VIII’. The first item in the volume is a letter from Fr. Rope to Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. referring to his long-standing friendship with the late Andrew Hilliard Atteridge (1852-1941). The letter is dated 25 April 1951 and contains information about Atteridge’s life. The Stockley letters are mostly personal correspondence with references to contemporary politics and various religious subjects.

Joseph Keating SJ, editor of ‘The Month’ from 1912 to 1939. ‘The Month’ was a Catholic review magazine published by the English Province of the Society of Jesus. The letters refer to literary matters and contributions by Father Rope to the periodical.

Bound volume containing newspaper clippings providing accounts of the tenement collapse and the subsequent funeral and burial of the seven victims. The clippings also give lists of subscribers to the relief fund established after the disaster. The volume also contains a manuscript list of twenty-seven Capuchin friars at St. Marys of the Angels, Church Street, at Rochestown College, and at Father Mathew’s (Holy Trinity) Church in Cork. The list is headed by Fr. Paul Neary OSFC, ‘the Lord Mayor’s Chaplain’. The list also includes Fr. Joseph Fenlon OSFC, ‘superior of Fr. Mathew’s Church, Cork’, and Fr. Edwin Fitzgibbon OSFC, President, Rochestown College, Cork. The volume also contains a manuscript list of people with private addresses in the environs of Church Street and North King Street. The list also notes ‘Father Mathew Hall’ for all the signatories. This may be a list of members of a religious sodality or, alternatively, a list of subscribers to the Tenement Disaster fund.

Entries in the books are made under the headings of street (mainly Dublin City), persons, family or business occupying the dwelling and the annual amount donated. Occasional reference is made to the dates of the quest and to the presence of a ‘non-Catholic’ family on a particular street. In one particular book, Fr. Henry drew a sketch map of the area which he was assigned (Dublin Southeastern Area) and included an index of streets, quays and businesses thereon. Another book has an insert of an appeal made by the Capuchin friars on behalf of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Dec. 1964.

The block prints are listed by box number and other locations in the Capuchin Publications' office. The volume appears to have originally been used to list names, addresses and amounts subscribed (possibly for the Third Order of St. Francis Sodality, or the Association of Patrons of 'The Capuchin Annual').
