Draft Letter regarding Temple Road Property

Draft letter regarding house property 15, 17, 19 and 21 Matthews Court, Temple Road in Blackrock. Mrs Louisa Forde had land leased to her in 1900 for a term of sixty years. ‘The rent she pays goes to the support of the St Joseph’s College which is a college for the preparation and theological education of students aspiring to the R[oman] C[atholic] Priesthood, which is a charitable object’.

Draft Letters from Students

Three draft letters, in Latin, from the students/seminarists to other provinces. The first letter mentions, among other things, that all the students had the 'Spanish influenza' of 1918-1920, but all were recovered.

Exemption from Undeveloped Land Duty

Response from Inland Revenue to a request for exemption from the Undeveloped Land Duty. Permission is not given for this exemption, as exemption was sought by Saint Joseph's, Blackrock, on the grounds of being a college. Exemption is only allowed if a college is a large college that is part of a university, not a private stand-alone one.

September 1969, published by Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA), based on a survey undertaken to ascertain views of seminarians on topics such as vocational decision, satisfaction with the choice to embark on the priesthood, celibacy, and role of the priest. The survey also examined statistics for family background and rate of withdrawal from the seminary.
