Overseas Missions: Foundation in South Africa: covering letter from Fergus Loighrey to Caspar Caulfield, C.P., the Missions Secretary General, enclosing a letter of similar date to the Bishop of Johannesburg, together with a specimen contract between the Diocese and the Congregation for the establishment of a house in South Africa. Fergus sets out very clearly the conditions for obtaining a suitable house together with the arguments against accepting a contract based on that between the Franciscans and the Diocese. Also detailed are the reasons for not accepting a contract that would confine us for the future to Carletonville Parish. NB' THIS DOCUMENT IS INCLUDED AT A12 IN THE DOCUMENT "OFFICIAL CORRESPONDENCE RE SETTING UP OF HOUSE IN TRANSVAAL" located at 8-1-4-1 serial no 6821. Of interest might be the final contract between the Bishop and the Congregation concerning the parish of Bryanstown, located at 8-1-4-32 seroial no 6841.
