Blessed Charles - Cause:- Informative Process - leter from Sebastian Slean, St. Mungo's, to Gerald O'Boyle. Sebastian is disappointed "that so little preperation has been done on our part". He makes several suggestions as to how Gerald might proceed.
Bl. Charles - Cause:- Informative Process - "Articles Proposed By the Vice-Postulator Rev. Fr. Oswald of Jesus Agonising For The Informative Process Of The Servant Of God Father Charles of St. Andrew Passionist". This copy has been heavily anotated in MS with many additions etc., in preperation, it would seem, for the 1936 "Apostolic Process" Articles However, not all of the additions in these 1923 Articles were incorporated in the 1936 Articles (q.v.)
Blessed Charles - Cause:- Informative Process - a document in Latin - 2 pages but with only one written upon - from Egidius Joseph of the Sacred Hearts (spelled Aegidius on the document) Postulator General of the Causes of Beatification and Canonisation of the Servants of God of the Congregation of the Clerics of the Most Holy Cross and Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ, to John Mary McMullan nominating him as Vice-Postulator of the ordinary process on the report of sanctity, virtues and miracles of the Servant of God, Farther Charles of St. Andrew, which is to be introduced in the Dublin Curia. At the bottom of the document written also in Latin and dated 27/05/1925, is a certification from Gustav Ado. Savignoni, S.R.C Notary and Archivist, testifying that Egidius (or Aegidius) is the Postulator General for the Passionists and that the signature on the above document is true and authentic. (Seeitem under serial no. 6124 for a translation of these documents done by Osmund Slevin).
Blessed Charles - Cause:- Informative Process - letter from Rev. T.O'Donnell, Archbishop's Secretary, returning Postulator's letter which "is quite satisfactory". Gerald asked to phone him , when he gets the special faculty re judges, so that an appointment can be made. May be advisable to see archbishop also. (N.B.,At date of entering, the Postulator's letter referred to is not available.)
Blessed Charles - Cause:- Informative Process - letter from Rev. T.O'Donnell, Archbishop's Secretary to Gerald O'Boyle. Proposed press notice approved but not to be published until reply received from Rome whether this is to be an informative process, as discussed when last Gerald was at Archbishop's House. Suggests that first sentence be reworded as ' "enjoyed" is scarcely applicable to "miracles" '. (N.B.,With regard to that suggestion, see items under serial nos. 6122 and 6123 for two press cuttings -no dates or names of papers- re the introduction of the Informative Process. The first sentence refers to "miracles said to have been wrought by the Servant of God" Could Gerald, in his submission of the notice, possibly have said "enjoyed by the Servant of God"?)
Blessed Charles - Cause:- Informative Process - letter from Placid Stevens, C.P., Sutton to Gerald O'Boyle. He sent all the docuents that were at his disposal. Has none of Charles's letters and had not started correspondence with those who knew Charles. Proceedings in Holland were successfully concluded. No official mention of those proceedings were made in the Dublin proceedings as it is the duty of the Postulator to work with material from independent tribunals. Charles's childhood and youth has nothing to do with Dublin.
Blessed Charles - Cause;- Informative Process - letter from Rev. T. O'Donnell, Archbishop's Secretary to Gerald O'Boyle enlosing "something" "received a few days ago". Gerald can judge "if it deserves investigation".(N.B., No indication what the enclosure was - probably something to do with a cure!)
Blessed Charles - Lives:- Father Charles Of Mount Argus by Father Christopher, C.P., published by M.H. Gill And Son, Dublin, 1955. This is a soft backed edition of the book published by the C.T.S. of Ireland in 1938 (located at 34/23).
